How do I make an appointment?
Feel free to contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or just do it the old fashioned (but much quicker) way, pick up the phone and dial 01344 623633.
Are you recognised by my medical insurance scheme?
We are recognised as physiotherapy specialists by BUPA, PPP, BCWA, WPA, Cigna, Standard Life and most other insurance companies. Please check with your insurance company that physiotherapy is covered and make a note of any conditions stipulated by them. Please note that you are ultimately responsible for the payment and settlement of the fees for treatment you have.
How do I know you are qualified?
All Chartered Physiotherapists have undergone the required training and passed the necessary exams to enable them to practice. They will have the letters MCSP and SRP after their names showing that they are both Chartered and state registered. You can check if a physiotherapist is state registered by looking them up on the Health Professions Council website www.hpc-uk.org
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
As Chartered Physiotherapists, we are qualified to confidently diagnose and treat musculoskeletal conditions. A referral from a doctor is only required if your treatment is funded by a medical insurance company.
What should I expect?
We will start by taking a few personal details including a medical history and we will need to know if you are on any medication. After this we will ask detailed questions regarding the problem you have come to see us about. It is worth thinking about how and when the problem first started, what makes it feel worse and what makes it feel better. After this we will observe the problem area and assess it by carrying out various physical tests. From this we will be able to diagnose the problem and move on to the appropriate treatment as agreed with yourself.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring the results of any investigations e.g. x-rays or scans. If you have a referral from your GP or consultant please bring this with you. If your medical insurance company are funding the treatment we will need their details including policy number and any authorisation numbers supplied.
What should I wear?
The physiotherapist will need to see the affected body part. For the lower limbs bring shorts, for back problems the therapist may require you to undress to your underwear.
